U.S. Olympic Training Center

The U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista is an official U.S. Olympic Committee training facility dedicated to the development of America's current and future Olympic athletes. The Training Center has numerous sport venues and support facilities for archery, beach volleyball, BMX, canoe/kayak, cycling, field hockey, rowing, rugby, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field, triathlon, and cross-training abilities for various winter sports. More than 4,000 athletes a year come to the 155-acre complex for coaching, support, and facilities needed to compete against the world's best.

  • On Saturdays, one hour guided tours are available to the public
  • Visitors are welcome to take a self guided tour through the facility, maps of points of interest
    are available
  • For your convenience, a cell phone assisted tour is also available to guide you through the facility
  • Look for Olympic souvenirs at the Olympic Spirit Store located at the lobby

Tours are open to the public. School group tours are available with reservations

The Visitor Center is open to the public. Visit us 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Sunday. Guided public tours available on Saturday at 11 a.m., walk-in only. Self-guided tours are available daily from 9.a.m. - 4 p.m. School group tours are also available with a prior reservation.

Visitor center contains a shop with Team U.S.A branded items

The Visitor Center contains Team USA Shop, where more than 100 different Team USA-branded items are available for purchase. All proceeds from sales directly support our U.S. athletes. The funding is especially important because U.S. Olympic hopefuls receive no government funding, unlike athletes in other countries.

The Olympic Training Center facility supports many sports, including archery, bobsledding, canoeing/kayaking, field hockey, cycling, luge, rowing, rugby, skiing/snowboarding, soccer, softball, tri-athlon, and various Paralympic sports.

Who are some athletes or teams who have won medals that have practiced here?

The Chula Vista Olympic Training Center sent 86 athletes to the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

Gold medals were won by

  • Meb Keflezighi (Marathon)
  • Rebecca Giddens (Slalom Kayak)
  • Toby Stevenson (Pole Vault)

Silver medals were won by

  • Women’s Softball Team
  • Men’s Rowing Team
  • Women’s Soccer Team

Bronze medals were won by

  • Deena Kastor (Marathon)
  • Erin Mirabella (Cycling)
The training center also served training center for one of the top Paralympic athletes in the U.S., Marlon Shirley. At the 2004 Paralympic Games, Marlon won a gold medal in the 100m, a silver medal in the 200m and a bronze medal in the Long Jump.
